Travel Tips from the experts: |
Always have current Identification and collar and/or harness on your pet. A microchip is great, but an ID tag is faster. |
Bring copies of current vaccinations whether you plan to board your pet or not; put a copy of the vaccinations in your glove compartment of the vehicle you are traveling in. |
Bring your pet’s regular food and favorite treats and chews... if possible, bring extras. |
Bring your pet's bed, pad and/or familiar towel or toy to help make your pet feel at home. |
Also bring an extra collar/harness and leash. |
Put your pet’s stuff in a traveling bag/container with medications and full instructions on how to feed and medicate your pet. If your pet uses more than 2 pills a day, consider putting them in a daily pill container. |
Make note of any allergies and/or medical concerns. Also include an emergency contact name/number should something happen to you or your family. |
Invest in and use a crate and/or harness for the safety of your pet and family when traveling. |
Never carry a small dog or cat on your lap in the front seat. The airbag could kill your precious companion. |
If camping, bring a tie out stake and lead. |
| If your dog/cat has not traveled before, expect the unexpected. |
Be considerate of others, ALWAYS pick up after your pet! |
If you are planning on boarding your pet, label his/her food and belongings. |
Bring a listing of pet-friendly accommodations for the area you are traveling in. |
